Again this year Parker Hannifin Corporate Headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio donated bikes to the Marines Toys for Tots program and I was able to help assembling the bikes and loading them on he the trucks to be delivered. They filled two full size trailers, a van, and a smaller box truck. All the bikes didn’t fit so we needed another truck to pick up the rest latter in the day.
The Portage Animal Clinic invited dogs, cats, and the folks they live with to come to the clinc for pictures with Santa. The event collected donations for the local Animal Protective League. All the dogs and the cats were well behaved and most of the people as well. And I had a lot of fun taking their pictures.
Amanda and Jared have been married for a year and half and wanted to renew their vows on 11/11/11. They came back to the Sheraton Suites here in Cuyahoga Falls on a chilly late fall day to enjoy the views of the river. They also brought their three month old son who did not seem to mind the chilly air too much.
Last weekend I was privileged to cover the local Toastmasters District 10 Spring Conference in Akron at the historic Quaker Square Hotel. I joined the Toastmasters club at Parker Hannifin, Parker Speekeasies, five years ago and have found it not only helpful but fun as well. Not only am I better and more confident speaking before a group, the club is a relaxing way to spend lunch once a week. I would recommend Toastmasters to anyone
who ever needs to address a group and get your ideas heard, that should include just about all of us.

We have been getting a lot of rain lately and with the snow melting all the local rivers are high and fast right now. It was time to stop at one of my favorite places, Brandywine Falls in the Cuyahoga Valley National Park.

We are lucky to live so close to nature and still close to the city. Brandywine can vary from a gentle flow in the summer to a torrent like this in early spring.

The annual show for the Akron Camera Club is now on display at the Cuyahoga Valley Art Center, 2131 Front St. in Cuyahoga Falls. The show opens with a reception on Wednesday evening March 2, 2011 at 7:30pm.

Here is a video I found on www.dphotojournal.com with some good tips for this time of year. The photos you can create now are worth the effort and you are going to be cold anyway. May as well make the best of it. Just take care of yourself and dress properly.
Today was a beautiful day. Cold but I still had to go out.
It reminded me of another January 23rd forty years ago. That was the day my wife, Mary, and I were married. Today is our fortieth anniversary! Yes, she is a saint and I’m a very lucky guy.
Our wedding is also part of the reason I love to photograph weddings. Mary’s uncle was the photographer of their family. His vacation photos were always great. We had no money and weddings were expensive even then so we did not hire a photographer and her uncle took our pictures. I don’t know what happened but we have very few good pictures from our most important day.
I try my best to insure that the couples I photograph will have their memories to look back on forty years (or more) after that day.
You are a unique couple. No one else is just like you. Your love is special, it is what sets you apart.
